Kristin Pitzen joked on TikTok about how she removed the American flag from her classroom walls because they made her feel \u201cuncomfortable.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Teacher Kristin Pitzen of Orange County\u2019s Newport Mesa School District said why she took down the American flag from her classroom in a TikTok video that she later removed:\u00a0\u201cbecause it made me uncomfortable.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI packed it away and I don\u2019t know where, and I haven\u2019t found it yet,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0she muttered into the camera, her laughter washing over her words.<\/p>\n

She continued by saying that she tells her students to\u00a0\u201cStand if you feel like it, don\u2019t stand if you feel like it, say the words if you want,<\/strong><\/p>\n

you don\u2019t have to say the words,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0during the morning reading of the Pledge of Allegiance, which is a symbol of national patriotism.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, my class decided to stand but not say the words. Totally fine. Except for the fact that my room does not have a flag,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0she exclaimed while laughing uncontrollably.<\/p>\n

She continues by saying that there wasn\u2019t an American flag in class, so one of her students wanted to know what he should look at when he took the pledge of allegiance.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the meantime, I tell this kid, \u2018We do have a flag in the class that you can pledge your allegiance to,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0she said, her voice quivering with amusement.\u00a0\u201cAnd he like, looks around and goes, \u2018Oh, that one?\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
