Sheila was thrilled to finally be pregnant after years of trying, but her joy was marred when her husband, David, was sent on a business trip close to her due date. To ensure she had support, David arranged for a doula named Martha to assist during labor. Although initially hesitant, Sheila eventually warmed to Martha, finding her support invaluable.

Although Sheila was hurt, she decided to postpone the conversation, wanting to focus on her newborn daughter. The story ends with Sheila holding her baby, contemplating forgiveness and the complicated ties that bind families together.
