A legendary Hollywood actor has passed away at the age of 89, as confirmed by his niece, Noreen Austin. The beloved star had been battling ongoing cardiac issues and quietly passed away at home, surrounded by his family. In recent years, he spent much of his time reflecting on his life, enjoying old films, playing his guitar, and immersing himself in jazz music.

This actor’s career spanned over decades, beginning as a child in the late 1930s. His debut came in an uncredited role in Bridal Suite in 1939, which marked the start of an impressive journey in Hollywood. He went on to appear in nearly 150 productions, including some of the most iconic films and TV series of the ’60s and ’70s.

Known for his powerful performances in In Cold Blood and the hit show Baretta, his portrayal of the tough, street-smart detective earned him four Emmy nominations and one win. His final major acting role came in the 1997 thriller Lost Highway.
