Micaela writes a playful note on her husband Travis’ chest before he heads off to his office Christmas party, marking him with a message that says, “This is my husband — touch him, and you’ll pay- M.” It’s a joke, a fun way of showing her love and possessiveness, knowing that Travis is a lightweight when it comes to alcohol. However, when Travis returns home intoxicated later that night, Micaela finds a cryptic reply scrawled on his chest, reading, “Keep the change.” She laughs it off initially but the message nags at her throughout the night, eventually leading her to take drastic action. Her unease grows, and with her mother’s encouragement, she secretly tracks Travis using a GPS app, which leads her to an unsettling discovery.
Micaela follows Travis to a lavish house, where she watches in shock as he emerges with another woman, who kisses him on the lips. Confronting them, Micaela learns the painful truth: her husband has been unfaithful. The woman bluntly tells Micaela that “husbands like this deserve to be treated like spare change.” Devastated, Micaela takes photos as undeniable evidence, and later receives a text from her mother with the contact details for a divorce lawyer. What was supposed to be a Christmas filled with celebration instead becomes the catalyst for Micaela to start a new chapter in her life, one focused on rebuilding and rediscovering herself.
